Newcastle United will have another shot at bringing Real Betis playmaker Nabil Fekir to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

If Spanish media outlet Fichajes are to be believed, Newcastle are exploring options to renew their interest in Real Betis attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir.

The Magpies have been on a relentless run in the Premier League having already breached the top four in a very short time. But their journey is going to be rough going ahead and Eddie Howe has observed he will be needing some much-needed reinforcements to elevate their level.

Fekir was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool a couple of seasons ago but can finally have his dream fulfilled of plying his trade in the Premier League. It is suggested that Saudi crown Mohammed bin Salman is personally handling the transfer process as the Toon failed with two unsuccessful attempts in the last two windows.

The Newcastle owner wanted to build his project around the French international and he could further be involved in the proceedings as the Magpies will step up their interest this time.

They are very keen to add a handsome premium on top of their last offer and would be willing to invest €60 million for the player. The former Lyon midfielder only renewed his stay in January this year but Betis would definitely entertain bids if they find it proportional to their demand.

Fekir hasn’t really justified his form this season as three goals and two assists in all competitions don’t really justify his talent. But irrespective of his current form, Newcastle are ready to bet big on him as it seems.

He could feed delicious balls to the Newcastle forwards and his efficiency in setpiece situations could prove to be very handy in tricky situations. As of now, Newcastle have a pretty clear line of sight but they could expect some activity once the window opens next month.

This might be Fekir’s last chance to get a lucrative contract as he will be entering the 30-year bracket next summer and it might convince him to accept a fresh challenge. He was linked with Barcelona earlier this year.
