Manchester United are keeping a tab on the progress of Benfica starlet Cher Ndour and will compete for his signature next summer.

As per a report in the Mirror, Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Benfica midfielder Cher Ndour. The 18-year-old has had some major breakthroughs pretty recently and the Red Devils are chasing his signature.

The midfield section needs to be revamped in particular as the likes of Fred are expected to leave the club next summer when his contract expires. United brought Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer to address their concerns in the midfield but they definitely need some help in the middle of the pitch.

The Brescia-born midfielder was discovered by Atalanta but Benfica soon came calling for him as he moved to Portugal to play for Benfica B. The midfielder is yet to appear for the senior team but has the prospect of being one of the most promising young players in future.

The midfielder has been likened to former United playmaker Paul Pogba who similarly came through the United youth system before leaving for Italy. The 18-year-old can work the ball pretty effectively and could be the creator to unlock the opponent’s defence.

The midfielder happens to have the same agent as Bruno Fernandes and his entourage has already sanctioned a move to Old Trafford. His contract will expire next summer, and he will not likely extend his stay beyond the current campaign.

United already have had some bright talents with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Zidane Iqbal emerging out of their academy and the Italian prodigy could follow the trend.

He will have to go through a rigorous process at United’s famed academy to make himself eligible for the rough English football. A summer move could be in the offing as the Manchester outfit will have other requirements to fulfil in the winter window.

Barcelona and Juventus are also monitoring his progress and there could be a three-way battle for the player next summer. The teenager could ignite a bidding war but United will be pursuing the player with more intent.
