Liverpool are believed to be one of the suitors who have expressed an interest in Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic and could take an imminent step to sign the player in January.
As per 90min, Liverpool are a strong contender to land Christian Pulisic as the Chelsea attacker is destined to leave Stamford Bridge sooner or later. Jurgen Klopp had the experience of working with the player during his time with Borussia Dortmund and could explore an option to reunite with the 24-year-old next month.
Pulisic has never got his due game time since arriving in West London in 2019 and perhaps this is the best opportunity for him to get some shakeup in his miserable Chelsea career.
The youngster showed his appetite for goals in the World Cup and his performance will definitely attract more suitors leaving Liverpool in the midst of uncertainty.
The Reds are planning a loan deal for the USMNT international but the Blues are unwilling to strengthen a direct top-four rival and would like to sell the player outside England.
His enormous wages also need to be taken into account and Liverpool do have the financial viability to afford his salary. There are a number of potential sides with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid but they won’t be able to fulfil Chelsea’s intention to pay the player’s full wage in case of a loan deal.
Luis Diaz’s season won’t start very soon as the 25-year-old is expected to be out till March and Klopp could shift his attention to Pulisic to bail him in this situation. Pulisic might not be ready to lower his wages and Liverpool can offer him that luxury as the winger will have a large window of opportunity to showcase his talent once more.
Newcastle United are also assessing the current scenario but they don’t have any desire to pay the asking price of €35 million in full and will be negotiating a much lower fee in winter. The Merseysiders could sign the player with an initial loan and would have the option to buy for a much lower price in the summer if he manages to be a match made in heaven.
