Liverpool could shift their focus away from Jude Bellingham if they successfully pursue Enzo Fernandez in the summer.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool could ease up on pursuing Jude Bellingham if they sign Enzo Fernandez. Jurgen Klopp remains interested in both stars, but bringing those two together is an economically impossible task.
Ever since Jude Bellingham made a mark at Borussia Dortmund, his performances have continually linked the star to a big move away from Germany. The Real Madrid target has many suitors, including some of the biggest and richest from England.
Apart from Real Madrid and PSG, no other continental side could afford to pay what Dortmund might demand in return for Bellingham. English sides can spend vast sums, with Chelsea, the Manchester Clubs, and Liverpool all keen on the England international.
For a long time, Bellingham joining Liverpool in the future seemed inevitable, considering he was earmarked to become the next Kop great. However, in the current scenario, the Reds might look to bow out of the race for the 19-year-old midfielder as they chase an alternate target.
Bellingham reportedly wants a move to Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp also looks to sign Enzo Fernandez in the summer, so one has to give way. Considering the price tag Dortmund might demand, the Argentine could prove an achievable target with a release clause set at €120 million.
Liverpool could further look to negotiate that price tag as their interest is growing by the day. The report suggests the Reds are closing in on Fernandez to become their next midfielder, and in that scenario, the Premier League side might cease away from signing Bellingham.
Bellingham is also a big Real Madrid target, and Liverpool backing out of a potential move could open the door for the Spanish giants. The La Liga side are keen on the English star to come in and take up a long-term position in their team.
Luka Modric and Toni Kroos do not have long-term futures, but their succession plan is open. Bellingham could replace either of those superstars and stake a claim in Madrid’s midfield for years to come. As for Liverpool, they will still consider a final decision on whether to pursue the Dortmund star or continue pushing on for Fernandez.
