Aston Villa are looking to sign Dutch attacker Arnaut Danjuma from La Liga club Villarreal in the January transfer window.

According to a report from Daily Mirror, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is looking to raid his former club Villarreal for 25-year-old forward Arnaut Danjuma in January.

The newly-appointed Aston Villa manager is looking to add more quality and depth to the attacking unit. Emery believes that there is a lack of quality in the wide areas at the West Midlands club, and he is looking to bring in the necessary reinforcements in January. And some of his other charges, including Nicolas Jackson, also feature on Aston Villa’s radar.

Danjuma would be an exceptional addition, and he has proven his quality in La Liga since joining Villarreal from Bournemouth. He managed to score 16 goals last season. The West Midlands club have certainly shown improvement since the arrival of Emery. But they will need to improve the squad to finish the season strongly.

Currently, Leon Bailey is the only reliable winger at the club, and Aston Villa will need to add more pace and flair to their attack. Danjuma has played in England before, and he could make an immediate impact at Villa Park if the transfer goes through. It will be interesting to see if Villarreal are willing to sanction the departure of a key player midway through the season.

The Spanish outfit will struggle to bring in quality replacements. So it is fair to assume that any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old might be keen on moving to the Premier League. And the opportunity to reunite with Unai Emery will be an added incentive. He was linked with a move to England in the summer.

If Aston Villa manage to pull off his signature in January, it could prove to be a smart acquisition. The Dutchman is at the peak of his powers, and he could make a considerable difference in the final third.

Aston Villa have impressive goalscoring options in Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins. However, both strikers have struggled due to the lack of service from the midfield this season, and the arrival of Danjuma will address that problem. Apart from being an impressive creator, the 25-year-old can chip in with goals consistently.
