Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old striker Terem Moffi from Ligue 1 club Lorient.
According to a report from Jeunes Footeux, Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are interested in signing Terem Moffi from Ligue 1 club FC Lorient.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring ten goals in 14 Ligue 1 matches. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for both Premier League clubs, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
Moffi has a contract with Lorient until the summer of 2024, and he could be available for a fee of around €20 million. The likes of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace should be able to afford that kind of money for a player who has been in impressive goalscoring form.
Both teams could use more cutting-edge in the final third, and the 23-year-old would certainly improve them in that regard. The player is still quite young and is likely to develop further. The €20 million move could look like a bargain in the future.
Aston Villa have shown signs of improvement under new manager Unai Emery, and the Spaniard will be hoping to finish the season strongly. It is no surprise that he is looking to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether the Ligue 1 club are prepared to sell a key player midway through the campaign.
Aston Villa have shown interest in several attacking players, including Ismaila Sarr. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace could use more depth in the attack, and Moffi could share the goalscoring burden with Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta at Selhurst Park. The Eagles have been linked with several strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres.
Both clubs would represent an ambitious move for the 23-year-old striker. A transfer to the Premier League will allow him to showcase his qualities at a higher level, and he is likely to develop faster when playing alongside top-class players in England.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are reportedly keeping tabs on the Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as well. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in the necessary reinforcements in January and have a successful finish to their Premier League season.
