Real Madrid will reportedly need to fork out £80 million to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United next year.

According to a report from Daily Star, Real Madrid are looking to sign Marcus Rashford as a long-term successor to Karim Benzema. And Manchester United are prepared to sell the Englishman for a fee of around £80 million.

The 25-year-old striker has been in fine form for Manchester United this season. And he has eight goals and three assists to his name across all competitions. Rashford has also carried his impressive form into the 2022 FIFA World Cup, scoring three goals in four appearances for the Three Lions.

England will take on France in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday. And Rashford will be hoping to make his mark in the big game, and guide the Three Lions into the semi-finals of the competition.

The 25-year-old striker has been Manchester United’s best attacker this season, and the Red Devils will not want to lose him anytime soon. However, he is in the final six months of his contract, and Manchester United are under pressure to agree on a new contract with him.

Rashford currently earns around £200,000 per week at Old Trafford, and Manchester United have reportedly offered him a bumper contract worth around £300,000 a week. However, the player is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal despite being keen on staying. So it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

That said, Manchester United will not want to lose a player on a free transfer at the end of the season. They have the option of triggering a one-year extension in his contract, and if Rashford decides against renewing his deal with the Premier League club, they will look to cash in on him at the end of the season amid interest from Real Madrid.

The reported £80 million asking price is quite steep for a player who is nearing the end of his deal. And it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid are willing to pay that kind of money to secure his services. They have already regretted such a decision by signing Eden Hazard.

The England international is yet to reach his peak, and he will likely improve further with experience. The Manchester United forward could prove to be a quality, long-term addition for Real Madrid if they can sign him for a reasonable price.
