Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had a meeting with the entourage of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat before the World Cup.
As per Get Football News France, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp met with Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to discuss a potential move. Amrabat has proven to be a vital cog in the midfield for Morocco who have defied the odds in the World Cup this time around.
The Merseysiders have been linked with a number of midfielders as they are attempting to freshen up their midfield in a bid to overcome their current crisis. A host of players the likes of Naby Keita and James Milner are expected to leave the club in the summer, while both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara have not provided that kind of assurance.
A dominant player in the heart of the midfield is absolutely the need of the hour and Amrabat could emerge as that key player. The Fiorentina midfielder has been involved in every moment of Morocco’s superlative World Cup journey and will play a vital role when the Atlas Lions take on Portugal in the World Cup quarter-final.
He will be entering the final year of his contract next season, and this January will be the best possible time for the Serie A club to cash in on the player. He will not fetch a high price but Liverpool will face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur who failed earlier with a move for the player.
Klopp ideally wants a player who would be able to provide strong resistance to the opposition press and can also dictate the tempo of the game with his acute vision.
Another meeting is scheduled to happen after the World Cup, and if the player continues to impress, the Reds might execute their plans pretty soon. The midfielder will be looking for a hefty wage hike and he could certainly have that luxury at Anfield.
The Reds have fallen behind in the title race but they are still pretty much alive in the Champions League, and Jurgen Klopp will definitely fancy his chances in this continental competition.
