Chelsea in advanced talks to sign Endrick

Chelsea might be in an advanced stage to seal a deal for Palmeiras prodigy Endrick, who is also on the radar of Real Madrid.

As per Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Chelsea might beat off other competitors in their pursuit of Brazilian forward Endrick. The Blues have been involved in a battle with Real Madrid, who are also keen to have the player under their folds.

Chelsea underwent a huge makeover in the summer as new owner Todd Boehly oversaw a busy transfer window which saw the arrival of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and a few other names.

But that has not shaped the way the west London club would have desired. Chelsea have still struggled to get along with the other Premier League bigwigs and are lurking in the 8th place during the World Cup break.

The Blues also allowed Romelu Lukaku to rejoin his former club Inter Milan on a loan deal and did not feel the urge to invest in a proper replacement. Chelsea decided to rely heavily on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but that move has kind of backfired as the 33-year-old has not really put justice to his name.

They are in dire need of attacking reinforcements and have surprisingly emerged as a contender for the Brazilian wonderkid. Endrick has already made the rounds with his exceptional quality, and Palmeiras would only accept an offer which could reflect their value.

Chelsea will have vacancies to fill but would be very cautious before making the final move as they won’t want any repeat of the Lukaku saga. Real Madrid want to close the deal pretty soon as Los Blancos are willing to offer €72 million, much more than his stipulated release clause.

The Spanish champions are aware of the taxes Palmeiras would have to entertain, and they want no last-minute interruption in the move. So Chelsea need to move fast if they really want to stand ahead in the queue.

But their handling of young players has attracted some criticism in the past, and they have to make sure Endrick walks on the right path as they cannot really mess around with a talent like him. A number of Brazilians are currently earning their way in the Premier League, and Endrick could soon follow the suit.
