Tottenham cool interest in Ruslan Malinovskyi

Tottenham have reportedly cooled their interest in versatile Atalanta attacker Ruslan Malinovskyi.

According to a report by Italian outlet Il Giorno, Tottenham Hotspur have cooled their interest in signing versatile Ukrainian attacker Ruslan Malinovskyi from Serie A giants Atalanta.

The 29-year-old has been a useful player for Atalanta since joining them, and he could have been a quality acquisition for Tottenham. It is no secret that the north Londoners are lacking in creativity in the middle of the park, and Malinovskyi would have been the ideal signing for them.

The Ukrainian international is at the peak of his powers right now, and he has made a name for himself in Serie A with his consistent performances. He would have added creativity and goals to the Tottenham attack.

Spurs have a quality midfield at their disposal, but they are lacking in craft and technical ability. The signing of a quality attacking midfielder could elevate the squad further, and it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte can bring in the right reinforcements in January.

Spurs were heavily linked with a number of attacking midfielders during the summer transfer window. And the likes of Nicolo Zaniolo, and Ruslan Malinovskyi have been on their radar since the start of the season.

If the recent reports are to be believed and Spurs have cooled their interest in Malinovskyi, it remains to be seen where the 29-year-old ends up. He is still expected to leave Atalanta sometime next year. The latest update comes in the wake of suggestions that Tottenham were leading the race to sign him.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need to add more creativity and goals to the side. It remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte decides to dip into the January transfer window to bring in the necessary reinforcements.

Tottenham are in the top four and will be hoping to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season. With the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United breathing down their necks, the north Londoners cannot afford to be complacent during the second half of the campaign.

Spurs will have to perform at a high level to finish in the Champions League places, and a quality signing in January could certainly help them.
