Arsenal are ready to battle Newcastle United for Djibril Sow in January, as Eintracht Frankfurt could decide his future next month.

According to Bild, Arsenal and Newcastle United are vying for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow. The Swiss international has 19 months left on his deal, which could open the door for a departure in the January window.

Arsenal and Newcastle United find themselves in an exciting spot on the Premier League table before the World Cup break. The Gunners sit on top of the table, while the Magpies sit in third. Both sides can swipe at the title or at least comfortably in the top four.

Newcastle certainly will feel making a top-four finish their priority, but they could set out to fight for the title. Man City are the clear favourites despite trailing Arsenal by five points. The Magpies boss is already looking into the market to sign players to improve the overall quality.

They are in the market for a new attacker and a midfielder. With the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes, Howe signed a brilliant player in a position the team lacked quality. Djibril Sow has emerged as a potential target for the Magpies if he is made available by Eintracht Frankfurt.

During the summer, Frankfurt rejected a £22 million bid from Nottingham Forest as they sought more money from suitors. As he remained with the club, the 25-year-old Bundesliga midfielder could become the subject of offers from Premier League sides.

Djibril Sow will have 18 months left on his deal in January, which puts some pressure on Frankfurt to decide his future. With Arsenal in the race for the Swiss international, the Bundesliga side may be forced to entertain offers. However, his displays at the World Cup could let them demand a significant fee in January.

Djibril Sow has performed admirably in a midfield setup consisting of Granit Xhaka and Remo Freuler. The 25-year-old Bundesliga midfielder brings an energetic presence, which Mikel Arteta is looking for in the market. Arsenal are looking at multiple options, including Ismael Bennaccer and Danilo.

Danilo has a high chance of joining the club in the winter window, but Arteta may look at the idea of Djibril Sow. The 25-year-old Bundesliga midfielder would add more energy to the already formidable partnership of Xhaka and Thomas Partey.

The question would be the feasibility of signing the 25-year-old Bundesliga midfielder in January. Any move to the Premier League will depend on what Frankfurt demands. However, if there is a chance, Arsenal and Newcastle could battle for the midfielder.
