Two-time Premier League winner and current Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane is reportedly open to signing for Arsenal and reuniting with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.

Arsenal are among a cluster of clubs to inquire about Bayern Munich winger and former Manchester City star Leroy Sane. And, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke (via GiveMeSport), Sane could be tempted by a move to the Emirates and may seriously consider a move to Arsenal.

The well-respected journalist has noted that Sane shares a positive previous working relationship with Arsenal manager Arteta from their time together at the Etihad, where the Spaniard was assistant to Pep Guardiola, and that he would welcome the prospect of working under him again at the Emirates.

Arsenal‘s technical director Edu had a rather busy summer behind the scenes, as evidenced by his involvement in a number of deals.

However, one player with whom Arsenal were linked and who could have been Edu’s most high-profile deal yet is Bayern Munich and former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. There were faint rumours of a tentative enquiry made, but nothing concrete came out of it.

Since then, the Gunners have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season. Mikel Arteta’s side sits at the summit of the Premier League table, five points clear of Manchester City in second place. Arsenal will need to add depth to their roster in order to sustain their championship challenge following the World Cup.

The north Londoners have been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk and Facundo Torres as Arteta eyes wide reinforcements to ease the burden on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Former Manchester City winger Sane has also resurfaced as an ambitious target for the Gunners.

The 26-year-old is certainly someone who fits the bill perfectly. He has pace, flair, and an eye for goals to complement his gifted talents. In terms of beating a man and operating as a wide-attacker, he is without a doubt one of the best that Europe has to offer.

During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Sane racked up 135 appearances across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 46 assists along the way. Since joining Bayern, the Germany international has scored 33 goals and supplied 34 assists in 108 appearances.

He takes a high volume of shots, generates shot-creating actions per game, and is an efficient ball-progressor and dribbler. This showcases the clear attacking talent that the former Man City star has and why he would be a star signing for Arsenal.

90min has recently claimed that Sane is “considering his options” at Allianz Arena despite having over two-and-a-half years left on his current deal. This is attributed to the increased competition for his place under Julian Nagelsmann, who also has Sadio Mane, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry as left-wing alternatives to contend with.

However, there is very little chance that Bayern Munich would be willing to offload their talented attacker, especially mid-season. They have yet to replace goal machine Robert Lewandowski, and selling off another consistent source of attacking output is a non-starter from the Bavarians’ perspective.
