Real Madrid could ponder a part-exchange deal with Benfica involving Reinier Jesus to bring Enzo Fernandez onboard.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid could take the next steps to prise Enzo Fernandez away from Benfica by offering a part exchange deal. The Spanish giants are willing to involve Reinier Jesus as part of the move for the Argentine international, valued at €120 million by Benfica.
Real Madrid are always watching some of the brightest talents that come out of the World Cup. One player that has caught the eye is Benfica star Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine international has put in some eye-catching performances in Qatar, and the heavy interest that follows will not come as a surprise.
Fernandez scored a brilliant goal against Mexico to effectively seal the points for Argentina while also registering an assist during the tournament. La Albiceleste will now take on Australia in the Round of 16 and will remain hopeful of progressing into the quarter-finals.
While the player himself will remain focused on the job with Argentina, interested clubs will lay down the groundwork for his transfer. Benfica will not want to let him leave in January, but they will have no choice if his €120 million release clause gets paid in full.
Considering their UEFA Champions League campaign, Benfica will need to retain Fernandez. However, with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and many other top clubs interested, the Argentine midfielder will find it difficult to turn down those approaches.
Manchester United have already made an approach and were told to pay €120 million for the midfielder. Clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on his situation. And Real Madrid are now preparing a massive offer to prise the Argentine away.
Real Madrid are ready to progress with their interest in Fernandez by making a concrete offer. The Spanish giants could send Reinier Jesus the other way, hoping to convince Benfica to reduce their €120 million asking price for the youngster.
Reinier joined Real Madrid 2020. But due to the unavailability of non-EU slots in the Real Madrid roster, he has spent time away on loan. The Brazilian playmaker is currently on loan at Girona and has a contract there until 2023. Real Madrid have found the solution to the erstwhile problem after Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Eder Militao acquired Spanish citizenship.
Reinier will have a spot available upon his return to the club. But Real Madrid may prefer to sell him to Benfica as part of the deal to sign Enzo Fernandez. Moreover, the report states the Spanish giants will include a future buyback option for Reinier in the agreement, which may work out in the long run.
Real Madrid want to capitalise on the buzz created around Enzo Fernandez during the World Cup. Benfica will know the rising value of the €120 million-rated midfielder amid his performances in Qatar. And they are unlikely to negotiate any deal below the player’s release clause.
