AC Milan are very keen to pursue Liverpool midfield duo Naby Keta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to bolster their options.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan are interested in brokering a deal for Liverpool midfield duo Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Both midfielders are set to leave the Merseyside club as free agents next summer when their contracts expire.

AC Milan have always been looking for shrewd deals in the transfer market. And there could be further opportunities for them to nail down two favourable transfers, with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain potentially available.

Keita arrived amidst much fanfare as the Guinean midfielder cost in excess of £50 million in 2018 and was pretty highly-rated in the Bundesliga at that time. But he has not been of much use to Jurgen Klopp as persistent injury issues have plagued his Liverpool career, and he is on the verge of leaving the club, as things stand.

The Reds are set to take a big hit financially as they will not be able to recover the sum they paid to RB Leipzig for his service. Similarly, Oxlade-Chamberlain could be seen as another failure of Liverpool’s famed transfer policy as the English international has hardly received time to shine in the red jersey.

Both Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are now expected to honour their current contracts. And AC Milan could pounce, as the Serie A giants are in need of some bodies in the midfield.

They have failed to secure a proper replacement for Thomas Partey as neither Yacine Adli nor Aster Vranckx has performed to the required level. AC Milan had earlier brought in Divock Origi from Liverpool on a free transfer, and it seems they are looking to raid the Merseysiders once again.

The Reds are preparing a massive bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, and they need to make room for his arrival. Liverpool’s midfield options are pretty scarce at the moment, and they do not want to lose both Keita and Chamberlain in the middle of the season.

So a summer move is in the offing as both players are unlikely to attract many suitors given their underwhelming performances for the Reds. Recent reports have already indicated that Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave Liverpool as free agents. And it will be interesting to see if both reunite at AC Milan next summer.
