Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries and can seal the deal for €30 million next month.
As per Inter News, Inter Milan could sell Denzel Dumfries for €30 million, and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to grab the opportunity. Dumfries has attracted attention from several clubs, but Antonio Conte has made up his mind to make the Dutch international his number-one priority in January.
Inter Milan’s financial woes have seen them parting ways with key players at crucial times. And the Serie A giants might have to repeat that operation to keep themselves relevant in this inflated market.
At least one player needs to be sold, and it appeared to be Milan Skriniar, who seemed to be on his way out from San Siro. But the Slovakian defender would not be leaving in January and could renew his terms with Inter, as things stand.
Inter were forced to cash in on Achraf Hakimi, who they sold to Paris Saint-Germain for a lucrative sum. And it seems they are on the brink of losing their primary right-back again amid interest from Tottenham.
Antonio Conte was sufficiently funded in the summer as the Tottenham hierarchy believed he is the man who could end their long trophy drought. Initial signs have been pretty encouraging, but Spurs suffered a few major blips, and the Italian manager wants to plug all the holes in January.
Tottenham will not have a straight swoop, as Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the running for Dumfries’s signature. Both the clubs are in urgent need of some reinforcements, and it could ignite a transfer battle.
Emerson Royal has been the preferred pick for Conte, but he has not really made his mark throughout the season. Meanwhile, Matt Doherty has slipped down the pecking order. Either player could get the sack as Tottenham will be inviting suitors for them. So Dumfries is a viable target. And with Serie A giants Inter Milan demanding only €30 million, he is an attractive option.
Dumfries has been in consistent form for Inter Milan and has replicated that on the international stage, leading the Netherlands to the World Cup Round of 16. Should the Oranje manage to go further deep in the tournament, his value would only soar complicating Tottenham’s negotiations.
