Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been linked with Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in recent weeks.

According to a report from Tuttosport, Tottenham Hotspur need to improve their midfield options during the January transfer window. And they have already initiated contact with 24-year-old Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie through intermediaries.

The American international has been linked with a move away from the Serie A club for months now. And a move to Tottenham could be ideal for the player, who is in contact with Spurs. Antonio Conte needs to add more quality to his midfield, and McKennie could be a useful addition for the Italian manager.

The 24-year-old has had a mixed spell at Juventus, and the Serie A giants are reportedly open to cashing in on him. The player is still relatively young and has time to fulfil his potential. A move to Tottenham would allow him to work with a top-class coach like Antonio Conte, who could help him improve further.

As for the north London club, they are in desperate need of backup options for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Both players have been phenomenal for Tottenham this season, but they need to be rotated so that they can stay fresh during the business end of the season.

Conte has Yves Bissouma at his disposal, and he needs another central midfielder in January. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can agree on a deal with Juventus. The report from Tuttosport adds that Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is on Tottenham’s radar as well.

The French international has a contract with the Serie A club until the end of the season, and he could be available for a free transfer in June. Tottenham could look to agree on a pre-contract deal with Rabiot when the transfer window opens in January.

Alternatively, they could look to sign him permanently during the winter transfer window by paying a nominal fee. Tottenham are currently vying for UEFA Champions League qualification, and they will need to bring in the right reinforcements in order to beat the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool for a place in the top four.

Both McKennie and Rabiot would be quality additions to the London club, and it remains to be seen who they end up signing. For now, Tottenham are in contact with the former to sign him Juventus next year.
