Newcastle United are keen on Gonzalo Plata in the January window, as Real Valladolid are ready to sell for around €20 million.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Ecuadorian winger Gonzalo Plata in January. The 22-year-old South American winger is high on the Magpies’ list of potential attacking targets. Real Valladolid are open to selling for the right price.

Gonzalo Plata was one of the standout players when Ecuador drew with the Netherlands in their World Cup group game. Playing in an energetic Ecuadorian side in Qatar, the 22-year-old South American winger is attracting the right interest.

He was on the radar of English clubs in the summer, with Leeds United showing particular interest in the winger. Real Valladolid kept him on board for good measure, as they could make a massive profit from a sale in January.
Plata’s value has increased following good performances for Valladolid in La Liga and Ecuador at the World Cup.

The Spanish side are expecting offers of around €20 million for the player they secured rights to in July for €3 million. If a sale materialises, Valladolid will make a massive profit off the player, who is of particular interest to Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe is keen on bringing an attacker in the next window to shore up his attacking options. The Magpies are in the mix to finish in the top four, and if things go as planned, they might also mount a title challenge. Howe will focus on the Champions League places and he needs players that can elevate his squad quality.

While Newcastle United have good attackers on board, they are looking for players to cover certain positions. The wing is one area with uncertainties, considering Allan Saint-Maximin is constantly injured, and there’s no sufficient cover for Miguel Almiron.

Plata is a player they reportedly don’t want to lose at all costs and will make a considerable offer if the reports are accurate. The 22-year-old is young and has the physical attributes to succeed in the Premier League. Moreover, Valladolid could sell him for the right price.

He will provide perfect cover for Almiron and even deputise for Saint-Maximin whenever the Frenchman remains unavailable. He has certain game factions that need improvement, such as goalscoring. Overall, he looks the best for a club to bring in and develop him into a top-rated star.
