Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar is working hard to bring a new winger as a priority in January amid links to Mykhaylo Mudryk.
According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar is working hard on necessary transfer targets as a new winger is reportedly considered a priority. The newly-promoted executive is working hard on such a signing amid heavy links to Ukrainian Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Arsenal entered the World Cup break on top of the Premier League table and will remain there beyond Boxing Day. On the last matchday, Manchester City’s loss to Brentford and the Gunners’ win away to Wolves opened a five-point lead at the top, which will keep them at the summit irrespective of their result against West Ham in December.
While Arsenal have come unscathed so far, there are considerable doubts over their credentials due to a small squad. Mikel Arteta lacks quality depth in key positions, namely central midfield and wide attacking zones.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have seen too much action during the first part of the campaign. Arteta needs a new winger to share the workload and add quality to the team that would elevate their chances of winning the Premier League title.
Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk is their primary target for the position. Things are reportedly complicated with the Ukranian’s transfer. Arsenal’s Sporting Director Edu Gaspar is working hard behind the scenes to bring in a new winger and solve Arsenal’s problem position.
The Gunners were keen on the 21-year-old back in the summer. Shakhtar’s €50 million asking prices reportedly dissuaded them from following up. Considering how Mudryk has performed since, Arteta and Edu remain interested and are working towards finding a solution for January.
Since the summer, Shakhtar have raised Mudryk’s asking price. Arsenal are willing to pay significantly in January. Edu, in particular, is working hard to get the winger to the club, while other targets, such as Orlando City’s Facundo Torres, have been mentioned in the media.
Cody Gakpo is also a target, but there’s a general feeling Mudryk is the priority. The winger recently blasted Skahktar for their exorbitant asking price. He fears those demands may scupper any possible move to Arsenal. The 21-year-old has reiterated his desire to sign for Arteta’s side and take the next step in his career.
There js plenty of noise in the background for Mudryk to sign for Arsenal. Much will depend on Edu’s prowess to convince Skakhtar over a deal and find a solution with the Ukrainians to get the winger on board.
