Pep Guardiola set to agree new Manchester City deal

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is close to signing a contract extension with the Premier League club.

According to a report from SPORT, the Manchester City hierarchy have used to World Cup break to advance talks regarding a contract extension with their manager Pep Guardiola. And the 51-year-old Spaniard is set to sign a new deal with the English giants.

The 51-year-old will be out of contract in June, and recent reports claimed that he would consider his future during the World Cup break. But Manchester City are determined to hold on to him for the long run. The report claims that Guardiola is delighted with his situation at the Premier League club as well and wants to continue in England.

The Catalan tactician has been a massive hit since joining Manchester City. And he has helped them win four Premier League titles, and numerous domestic trophies during his time at the club. However, Guardiola is yet to win the Champions League with Manchester City despite massive investments from the Premier League club.

It will be interesting to see if the 51-year-old can finally help City succeed in the premier European competition this season. The Premier League giants are currently second in the league table and will use the mid-season break to recharge their batteries and launch a proper assault when Premier League football returns in December.
