Wojciech Szczesny on Manchester United radar

Manchester United are considering a change in the goalkeeping department as they have eyes on Juventus star Wojciech Szczesny.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Wojciech Szczesny has emerged on Manchester United’s radar as the club plot changes to the goalkeeping department. David de Gea’s future remains uncertain, while Juventus are considering making a few changes and could remain open to offers for the Pole.

Juventus are considering making significant changes to their playing squad after a few years of regression. The Serie A giants remain keen on adding to their squad while letting a few stalwarts leave the club for suitable offers. One of the areas could be the goalkeeping position.

Wojciech Szczesny has remained their preferred choice since signing from Arsenal on a permanent deal. The Polish international has made 190 appearances for the Serie A giants, becoming one of their key stars in recent years.

However, at 32, with a contract lasting only 18 months, Juventus are exploring the idea of getting a transfer fee from suitors. Hence, they are open to offers from interested parties, as Massimiliano Allegri plots change in that position.

Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario is a target, while Manchester United’s David de Gea is also being considered. The Spaniard is in the last year of his contract, although the Red Devils can extend it by another season. In the event of losing the Spaniard, the Premier League giants could target Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny as a replacement.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on other goalkeepers, including Brighton & Hove Albion’s Robert Sanchez and FC Porto’s Diogo Costa. While those players will be expensive, they might look to bring Szczesny instead, for the 32-year-old Juventus goalkeeper will be relatively cheaper.

Manchester United could approach Juventus next summer, particularly if they cannot resolve the situation with de Gea. Szczesny has tremendous experience at the top level, and while he will turn 33 in April, there is plenty left in the tank for him.

Juventus could ask for a decent sum, if not excessive, and a deal could work out between the two sides. For now, Szczesny’s contract renewal is proving a complicated affair for Juventus. As the Polish goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain in Turin, much could change between now and next summer.
