Manchester City set to reject future Arsenal approaches

Manchester City will reject future offers from Arsenal for their first team players after two glaring errors in the summer.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are set to reject any future offers from Arsenal for their first-team stars. The Premier League champions sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer, strengthening the Gunners.

Arsenal’s position at the top of the Premier League table have surprised many onlookers. The Gunners are a solid unit under Mikel Arteta, but nobody expected them to challenge Manchester City for the title. They head into the World Cup break at the top of the pile.

The Gunners will be top during Christmas and beyond, irrespective of their result against West Ham United on Boxing Day. Arsenal currently hold a five-point lead over Manchester City after 12 wins from their 14 games this season.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are Arsenal’s standout players this term. Meanwhile, two of their summer arrivals have rejuvenated the squad. First, Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, and the Brazilian has brought in something Arteta was missing with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.

The other arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko has solidified the backline as the Ukrainian international continues to perform in a versatile full back-midfield hybrid role under Arteta. Both those signings were a masterstroke by Arsenal in the summer.

Jesus and Zinchenko brought in a winning mentality previously lacked by those playing for Arsenal. Zinchenko and Jesus are contributing more to the team, and Manchester City are ruing their mistake.

Hence, Manchester City have decided to reject any future offers from Arsenal for their first-team stars. After their double mistake in the summer, Pep Guardiola’s side cannot afford to strengthen the Gunners further. The two teams are already the favourites to contend for the title, and the trend could continue for years.

While the Gunners are only at the beginning of their exciting project, Manchester City could see theirs folded if Guardiola departs. The Catalan’s contract expires in 2023, and he is expected to make a firm decision on his future before the new year.

Manchester City reportedly want Arteta to replace Guardiola, but that may only happen after a few years now. The Arsenal boss is firmly settled in his role at the Emirates and unlikely to trade places anytime soon.
