Pape Matar Sarr has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the January transfer window, with AC Milan interested.

According to a report from Corriere Dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, AC Milan are looking to sign Pape Matar Sarr. And the Serie A champions could make a move for the talented young Tottenham midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 18-year-old Senegalese midfielder joined Tottenham from Metz back in 2021, and he was loaned back to the French club for the entirety of last season. The youngster has now returned to Tottenham, but he is yet to make his first-team debut for the London club.

Sarr has not played in a single Premier League game or a cup game for Antonio Conte’s side. But he has made a couple of appearances at the Premier League youth level.

The 18-year-old is extremely talented with a big future ahead of him. He needs to play regularly to continue his development. And if Tottenham cannot provide him with that opportunity this season, it would make sense for the Londoners to loan him out.

The report from Corriere dello Sport confirms that AC Milan wanted to sign the player on loan in the past, but they were unsuccessful. It will be interesting to see if the Italian giants are willing to pursue the player again midway through the season. For now, the 18-year-old midfielder will be focusing on making a mark in the World Cup with this country.

If he manages to impress in Qatar, there could be a number of clubs willing to take him on loan and aid his development. The Tottenham prospect is unlikely to get ample game time this season, and Spurs already have several midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order. A loan move would be beneficial for all parties, and it will be interesting to see how things evolve over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could definitely use a quality attacking midfielder in their starting lineup and they have been linked with players like James Maddison in recent months. It will be interesting to see if they decide to bring someone in when the January window opens.
