Manchester United eyeing Kylian Mbappe as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

Manchester United are planning an audacious move for Kylian Mbappe as they want the French forward to be the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Daily Mirror, Kylian Mbappe has emerged as a new target for Manchester United, who are ready to cut out Cristiano Ronaldo from their plans.

Manchester United have long been looking to offload Ronaldo from their books. The Portuguese attacker has endured poor form since the start of the season, and this might be the perfect opportunity to run the roller on him.

The 37-year-old accused the club of betraying him and even suggested that Erik ten Hag disrespected him during his brief tenure at the club. Manchester United have yet to reach a conclusion, but the feeling is that the former Real Madrid forward might have played his last match in United colours.

Mbappe was on the verge of jetting off to Spain as he reportedly agreed on all personal terms with Real Madrid. But PSG came back with a lucrative contract offer, and the 23-year-old signed on the dotted line this past summer.

The Red Devils are aware of the huge financial package which needs to be involved in his move. The French club would be satisfied with an offer of at least £150 million, which is deemed affordable by a club like Manchester United’s stature.

Mbappe currently earns almost £1 million per week, and Manchester United are expected to match that kind of pay packet for him. The 23-year-old has been one of the hottest prospects in Europe and can certainly be Manchester United’s focal point of attack alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

The Red Devils have been planning to bring in a new striker and might invest heavily in January to fend off interests in the summer. They are aware of the fact big clubs will pounce on their desired targets this upcoming summer and preponing their plans might be their best option.

It will be a pretty shrewd signing as Manchester United’s attacking contingent could turn out to be the best in the Premier League if all the players fulfil their potential to some extent. But signing Mbappe seems like a far-fetched dream amid their struggles to become a Champions League regular.
