Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keeping a tab on Norwich City’s Max Aarons, who also attracted the interest of Manchester United.

According to 90min, Tottenham could make a move for Max Aarons in January as Antonio Conte wants a new right back. Despite his young age, the 22-year-old English right-back has significant experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to acclimatise to the top flight.

Max Aarons has been one of the most promising right-backs in England but has not really been the subject of much fanfare as clubs have ignored him on multiple occasions in the past.

The Norwich City academy product has been with the Canaries for a prolonged period. And perhaps the time has come to accept a new challenge for the youngster.

Antonio Conte wants adequate cover on the right-hand side of the Tottenham defence. That is because both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal have failed to produce any significant outcome so far.

The North Londoners would be listening to offers for both players and could part ways with one of them to make room for another defender. Barring two games, Aarons has been a permanent fixture in Norwich’s promotional battle, and the Canaries are comfortably sitting in fourth place.

Norwich rejected Borussia Monchengladbach’s advances in the summer. But with the English right-back gradually edging towards the periphery of his current deal, the Canaries might need to assess the situation seriously.

Manchester United have also tapped into the possibility of bringing the 22-year-old to Old Trafford as a backup for Diogo Dalot. Aaron Wan-Bissaka will certainly be offloaded in January, and Aarons is being seen as a worthy understudy.

Dalot cannot be risked in every match, and Erik ten Hag wants a new right-back to relieve the Portuguese international of further stress. Tottenham are very much aware of Manchester United’s interest and could be ready with an instant offer on the table once the transfer window opens in January.

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup looming on the horizon, a number of new players might appear in the frame. But Aarons should be a priority for Tottenham, given Conte’s urgency to lead the team to glory this season.
