Everton are eyeing a move for QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng, who has emerged as a subject of interest for a number of Premier League outfits.

According to Football Insider, Everton are tracking Seny Dieng for a long time and might execute their interest in the near future. Jordan Pickford has been linked with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur, and the Toffees want to keep their backup plan ready in case of an emergency.

Dieng has been one of the most promising keepers in the Championship and has attracted a lot of interest from a number of suitors. QPR occupy the final playoff spot in the second tier, and they will have to fight a lot of interested parties to keep the 27-year-old shot-stopper at the club.

Dieng has been an ever-present in the QPR goal in the last two seasons since breaking into the first team and has played every minute of this season. The Londoners had managed to keep the suitors away during the summer as Sheffield United came calling for him.

Queens Park Rangers demanded a whopping £12 million for his services, but they will not be able to extract the same amount as the 27-year-old has only more than a year left on his current deal.

Everton lost to Bournemouth 4-1 in the Carabao Cup this week, as Asmir Begovic could not do anything special in between the sticks. The Merseysiders are now tempted to make a move for a substantial figure and the Senegalese international ticks all the boxes.

QPR’s potential promotional campaign would take a severe blow if they lose their primary asset in the midst of the season. So they could take a firm stance coming this January. But with Jordan Pickford emerging on Tottenham’s radar, Everton will need to take a decisive call soon.

Bournemouth are also keeping a tab on the player and might test QPR with a tenacious bid in January. The 27-year-old goalkeeper could fall further in the pecking order as he is unlikely to dethrone either Pickford or Begovic from their current position if he arrives at Goodison Park.

The player will be going to his first-ever FIFA World Cup in Senegal, and it remains to be seen if he manages to get some minutes under his belt to further cement his position as a transfer priority for Everton.
