Tottenham are interested in signing Yannick Carrasco in January, with Atletico Madrid ready to cash in on the €60 million-rated Belgian international.

According to Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Atletico Madrid have put Yannick Carrasco up for sale ahead of the January transfer window. Tottenham reportedly retain an interest in the Belgian international and are considering a move.

Yannick Carrasco remains a target for Tottenham after Spurs failed to sign the Belgian during the summer transfer window. Atletico Madrid reportedly rejected bids for the wing-back, but they are ready to accept offers in January. Tottenham are one of the clubs keen, with Antonio Conte eyeing essential reinforcements.

Carrasco and Atletico Madrid, in general, have endured a terrible season, especially in Europe. While they sit ten points behind league leaders Barcelona, the Rojiblancos got ousted from the Champions League last week after a dismal group-stage campaign.

The elimination and financial troubles leave them around €60-70 million short of balancing their books. Hence, they are considering player sales to get funds, and Carrasco could leave. The report claims Atletico regretted not accepting Tottenham’s offer in the summer and could remedy it in the next window.

Conte is looking for players to strengthen the squad in January and has specific requirements. One of those could be a high-level wing-back. The current options on the left-hand side are Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic, with the latter not considered of the required quality.

Conte wants a wing-back that presses aggressively and could re-consider signing Carrasco. The report suggests figures of €60 million, although it is unlikely Tottenham will pay that sort of money. The player will have 18 months left on his contract in January.

Spurs could also negotiate the price down and include Sergio Reguilon in a part-exchange deal. The on-loan full-back has yet to make an appearance since joining Atletico Madrid owing to an injury in pre-season.

Tottenham already have other names on their shortlist if the €60 million-rated Belgian international is unattainable. Owing to their past interest in Carrasco, Conte might prefer to sign the Atletico wide man over others.

For now, a move could be on the cards. However, much will depend on the funds available to Conte and the need to sign players in other positions. It is understood that Tottenham are prioritising a creative player.
