Liverpool are laying the groundwork as they inch towards securing a deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, a target for Real Madrid.

As per a report in ESPN, Liverpool are the front-runners to acquire the service of Jude Bellingham, who is expected to trigger a bidding war amongst his suitors. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is also a target for Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp has already felt the need of revamping his midfield following an underwhelming start to this season. The Reds were supposed to throw a title challenge to Manchester City. But back-to-back defeats mean they are more closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as a talent pool for the Premier League clubs over the last few seasons. Players like Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji have been snapped up by both the Manchester clubs.

Liverpool tried to sort out their midfield problems by sanctioning a last-gasp emergency deal for Arthur on loan from Juventus. But that move has backfired so far as the Brazilian midfielder has undergone surgery and will take a whole lot of time before gaining match fitness.

Dortmund will not come in Bellingham’s way as long as their demands are met. The German outfit have already planned their life without the versatile midfielder and will be ready to let him leave Signal Iduna Park in the summer.

An amount in excess of €100 million would be required to avail his service. And Liverpool might find it difficult to fund a move having already splurged the money to bring in Darwin Nunez last summer. But according to ESPN, Liverpool have moved closer to beating Real Madrid and others to his signature.

Real Madrid and Manchester United are also believed to be taking a keen interest in the player and will establish contact with his entourage to figure out the possibility of a potential transfer.

Real Madrid have already added two most talented midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga to their ranks. And adding Bellingham on top of that midfield will be outrageous for the reigning European champions.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have had their golden periods at the Santiago Bernabeu, and perhaps the time has come to replace their achievement in good hands. Liverpool will use every possible resource to grind up a move for the talented 19-year-old as the player can singlehandedly turn their fortunes if he does arrive at Anfield.
