Arsenal, Liverpool battle Chelsea for Milan Skriniar

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has been linked with a move away from the Italian club and Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing him.

The 27-year-old has made a name for himself since his move to the Italian club and 90min claims that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are looking to sign the player in the coming months.

Skriniar will be a free agent at the end of this season and Inter Milan are hoping to tie him down to a contract extension. However, the two parties have not been able to finalise an agreement yet.

The report from 90min claims that the three Premier League clubs are huge admirers of the Slovakian international and it remains to be seen whether they can take advantage of his contract situation and sign him on a bargain.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool could sign the player for a knockdown price in January or wait until the end of the season and sign him on a free transfer. That said, there will be more competition for his services at that time.

Skriniar will be able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs when the January transfer window opens and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League clubs start laying down the groundwork of a potential transfer.

The 27-year-old has proven himself in Italy and the opportunity to move to the Premier League could be a tempting proposition for him next year.

Arsenal could certainly use an upgrade on Gabriel Magalhaes and Skriniar would be a quality addition. He is at the peak of his powers and he could transform the Gunners at the back.

Similarly, Chelsea need a long-term successor for Thiago Silva. Meanwhile, Liverpool could look for an upgrade on Joe Gomez, who has been error-prone recently. Joel Matip will need replacing soon as well.

Skriniar would improve all three clubs and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke in the long run.
