Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has reportedly established contact with the environment of Jude Bellingham, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by Sport Bild, Todd Boehly has taken the first step to bring Jude Bellingham to Chelsea next summer. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is also a target for several other European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.
Jude Bellingham has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the market since breaking into the first-team squad at Birmingham City FC a few years ago. And the Englishman’s stock has skyrocketed since moving to Borussia Dortmund, where he is now a pivotal figure.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 campaign thus far, managing nine goals and two assists in 19 appearances. But Bellingham’s stint with Dortmund might end soon, with some of Europe’s most high-profile clubs keen on signing him. Real Madrid and Chelsea are two of his prospective suitors.
Real Madrid will look to lay down a succession plan for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the coming year. The ageing midfield stalwarts are in the final phases of their careers, prompting Los Blancos to seek long-term successors. Bellingham has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid.
Recent reports have claimed that the reigning La Liga champions are the front-runners to sign Jude Bellingham. But Real Madrid will have to fend off stiff competition from Chelsea to win the race to sign the 19-year-old English midfielder.
The west Londoners reportedly view Bellingham as a priority target. And with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante on the wrong side of 30, Chelsea will have to invest in a top-class midfielder. Bellingham is thus an option worth considering for the Blues. And Todd Boehly has established contact with the player’s father and other representatives.
Chelsea and Real Madrid will also have to compete with several other European bigwigs, with Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool also keen on signing him. But Chelsea and Real Madrid seem to be the leading candidates to secure the services of Bellingham. The Blues have made the first move, and it will be interesting to see how the others respond.
