Manchester City keeping tabs on Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City are keeping tabs on his situation.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told Give Me Sport that Manchester City are keeping a close eye on situation of Kylian Mbappe. And the Premier League champions could make a move for the 23-year-old French attacker at the end of the season.

Mbappe is reportedly unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain and wants to leave as soon as possible. Previously, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the player’s situation at PSG is tense, and he is looking for a way out.

Sheth told Give Me Sport, “Not just those two clubs. I think every big club in European football would want an Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe in their team, of course, they would. And I’m sure these clubs are keeping an eye on that situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

“The interesting thing that Kylian Mbappe did was, it was only a three-year contract that he signed with PSG. So, in modern football, when players get down to two years of their contract, suddenly the talk of ‘is this player going to move?’ already rears its head.”

The Frenchman is a world-class player, and would be an exceptional acquisition for Manchester City if they can pull off his signing. Mbappe was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

But he decided to sign a new contract with PSG instead. The 23-year-old penned a three-year deal with the French outfit. But things have not gone according to plan for him, and he wants a fresh start now.

It will be interesting to see if the French club are prepared to sanction his departure at the end of the season. Mbappe will have two years left on his deal in the summer, and PSG have the right to deny him a transfer should they wish to. That said, holding on to an unhappy player might not be a good idea, and they should look to cash in on the 23-year-old if possible.

Manchester City certainly have the resources to sign any player in world football, and signing Mbappe could make them unstoppable. The Premier League champions already have a world-class attacker in Erling Haaland. And Mbappe could form a fearsome partnership with the Norwegian striker.

Jack Grealish has not been able to live up to the expectations moving to Manchester City, and Pep Guardiola could be tempted to replace the former Aston Villa captain with Mbappe.

The Frenchman can operate as a wide forward as well as a centre forward. His versatility will be a bonus for Manchester City. The 23-year-old French attacker has scored 16 goals across all competitions this season and can transform Manchester City in the final third.

The Premier League champions have not been able to win the Champions League so far, despite continued investment into the playing squad. A signing like Mbappe could finally take them to another level and help establish them as the kings of Europe. With Real Madrid not interested anymore, Manchester City might have a clear run at the 23-year-old French attacker
