Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United will need to fork out £85 million to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
According to a report from Daily Mirror, Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on signing Moises Caicedo. And they have been told that they will have to shell out a fee of around £85 million to secure the services of the 20-year-old Ecuador international.
The 20-year-old joined Brighton & Hove Albion back in 2021 for a fee of around £4 million and has established himself as a key player for the Seagulls. It is no surprise that top Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are enamoured by his performances, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Newly-appointed Chelsea manager Graham Potter knows all about the player having worked with him during their time together at Brighton. And the Blues could have an added advantage in the transfer chase because of the relationship between the midfielder and their manager.
Chelsea could definitely use a couple of quality midfield reinforcements, especially with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante on the wrong side of 30. Both players will be out of contract in the summer, with the latter also suffering from fitness issues.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s midfield woes are no secret, and Jurgen Klopp has had multiple problems in the middle of the park this season. Persistent injuries to Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita, along with the regression of James Milner and Jordan Henderson have left Liverpool with a sub-par midfield unit.
The Reds will have to bring in quality players if they want to get back to challenging for the major trophies once again. And Caicedo seems like a quality long-term acquisition for Liverpool after also being a target in the summer.
The 20-year-old can operate as a central midfielder as well as a box-to-box midfielder. And a world-class manager like Klopp could help him fulfil his tremendous potential and take his game to another level.
It is a similar situation at Manchester United who are in need of midfield reinforcements. Erik ten Hag will have to bring in upgrades on the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay. The 20-year-old player seems like an interesting option in theory. And it will be interesting to see if Manchester Untied can fend off the competition from Chelsea and Liverpool to secure his services.
