Inter Milan could offer a chance to Donny van de Beek to end his woeful Manchester United spell.
As reported by Sports Mole, Inter Milan will be lining up a move for Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek in January. The former Ajax midfielder has struggled to make his mark at Manchester United since his summer move in 2020.
Erik ten Hag’s reunion with van de Beek was supposed to offer him a new lease of life at Old Trafford. But fitness issues have forced the Dutchman to the sidelines, and he has not competed for a place in the starting lineup. He has been restricted to a meagre 19 minutes of game time in the Premier League and has not appeared in the top flight since the 2-1 win over Liverpool back in August.
Persistent injury issues also have hampered van de Beek’s progress, and he was entitled to a brief cameo in Manchester United’s UEFA Europa League win over Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday after proving his fitness. But the 25-year-old should be encouraged for more show-time as van de Beek backed him up for more game time under his belt.
“When you analyse the season so far, then if he was available then he should get his chance. Because we need goals and I know Donny is really good in the position to score goals but also he is really good in defence transition.”
Donny van de Beek’s wait for a chance could end very soon as the Manchester United manager could rotate his squad to keep the players fresh during a busy season. Games are coming thick and fast, and van de Beek’s fitness could work wonders for the Red Devils in the longer period.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries. And should van de Beek fail to utilise his chances, the Red Devils might want to sweeten the deal by offering the Serie A giants a chance to cut back their deficit.
Inter have made an erratic start to the season and are currently fifth in the Serie A table. Simone Inzaghi will likely ask for reinforcements in January and van de Beek’s arrival could strengthen their midfield.
The Dutch midfielder has also been linked with a move to fellow Premier League clubs Leicester City and Newcastle United. But Inter could be the front-runners, considering they can offer UEFA Champions League football and a possible Serie A title tilt.
