Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek could finally be handed a lifeline as Leicester City are ready to offer him a way out of Old Trafford.

According to a report by Jeunes Footeux, Leicester City are interested in Donny van de Beek and are considering making him an offer. The Manchester United midfielder has struggled for game time since his arrival at Old Trafford, despite the presence of Erik ten Hag.

Donny van de Beek has been restricted to a handful of minutes this season, and his time at Manchester United might finally come to an end. Erik ten Hag has not tested his mettle enough, and the Manchester United manager might sanction his departure. And there seem to be very limited options for him in the current scenario.

Christian Eriksen’s excellent performances in the middle of the pitch have been a big boost for Manchester United. In addition, Scott McTominay has continued to surprise one and all with his mature displays. And with Manchester United still interested in Frenkie de Jong, van de Beek’s prospects look bleak.

Donny van de Beek is much lower in the pecking order, and Leicester could come as a much-needed respite for the former Ajax midfielder. A loan deal with an option to buy could be opted by the Foxes, who are currently struggling to maintain their momentum in the Premier League.

Leicester are deeply submerged in the relegation zone, and Brendan Rodgers will be looking for some fresh faces who can be game-changers in this intense battle. They are also primed to lose Youri Tielemans in January, and view van de Beek as a potential reinforcement.

The Manchester United is also on the radar of PSV Eindhoven, who are keeping tabs on his situation. Erik ten Hag still believes the 25-year-old is capable of proving his point. And a short-term deal at another club might be suitable for the player.

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup looming, he might need to convince Louis van Gaal with a string of good performances to be a part of that Qatar-bound squad. But the World Cup will come before he can seal a departure from Manchester United, thus hampering his prospects.
