Manchester City sign Emilio Lawrence

Manchester City have signed highly-rated Everton youngster Emilio Lawrence after prolonged negotiations for the 17-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have finally signed Emilio Lawrence from Everton after lengthy negotiations between the two sides. The 17-year-old English wonderkid will join Man City’s youth squad as the club looks for talents to shape their future squads.

Manchester City have increasingly looked at young talents in recent times. While the club remain on the brink of winning many honours for years to come, they are also focusing on their developmental squads. The young team, in the periphery of the first team, is understandably their priority, and they are making the right moves.

The Premier League champions are always mentioned as top clubs for the best players in the game. However, of late, they are making moves to sign the top young talents across England, Scotland and Ireland. Their links to some of the best emerging talents, like Rocco Vata, prove their plans.

Manchester City are keen to bolster the youth ranks after successfully selling a few players in the summer. While there’s a need to fill those gaps in the younger teams, the club wants only the best talents. One is Emilio Lawrence, the highly-rated 17-year-old English wonderkid from Everton.

The two clubs have reportedly been negotiating since July to agree on a deal for the 17-year-old English wonderkid. As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have signed Lawrence from Everton, who has completed a medical with the club.

Man City were aware of rival clubs keen to secure Lawrence. They have beaten the competition as things stand and will look to integrate the 17-year-old into their youth squads. There’s still no clarity on whether he will join the U-18 squad or the U-23s, for he has played with the latter age group at Everton.

Lawrence could be a solid acquisition for Manchester City, as he could become a big part of future squads. There are plenty of good examples for the 17-year-old to look up to, such as Phil Foden, who came through the Man City academy.
