Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way back to Italy, with Serie A giants Napoli keen on taking the player under their fold.

According to The Sun, Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as a subject of interest for Napoli. And the Serie A heavyweights will tap into the options to bring the wantaway Manchester United attacker to Naples.

Ronaldo’s regression has opened a new avenue for Manchester United, as the Red Devils have not missed his service at all and looked like a completely different side altogether. Erik ten Hag tried to accommodate Ronaldo in his system from the start of the season.

But the incident in the game against Tottenham Hotspur has burnt the bridges with the Manchester United manager, and he will be no more the preferred choice for the Dutchman. The Portuguese international left the stadium before the match ended and was later left out of the Chelsea matchday squad as ten Hag did not want it to impact their on-field performance.

Chelsea are also linked with the player. And it remains to be seen whether the Blues come in January with a bid. Meanwhile, Napoli arrived at the scene in the summer. But knowing how much Ronaldo would cost, the Serie A giants backed out as they could not afford his wages at that time.

But the Partenopei have been on the top of their game this season as they currently lead the charts in Serie A. And their prospects in the UEFA Champions League also seem to be bright.

Napoli would be needing some experienced players who could provide them with an uplift for a title tilt. And Ronaldo could deliver the desired result. Having already won two Scudettos in his stint with Juventus the 37-year-old is well versed with the rigours of Serie A.

When it comes to Champions League, there are very few players who could match his level in this continental competition. With five Champions League medals to his name, Ronaldo could push for another term if he ends up at Napoli.

Napoli have built a competitive squad, and a potential Victor Osimhen-Ronaldo combination could lit up Serie A once again. The Partenopei’s financial viability also could reach a new high as the former Real Madrid forward could change the scene if he does agree to a deal.
