Arsenal reportedly eyeing up a player plus cash deal to sign Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Serie A giants Lazio.

According to a report from Calciomercatoweb, Sergij Milinkovic-Savic is a target for multiple clubs. And Arsenal could look to offer 23-year-old midfielder Albert Lokonga and some cash in exchange for the 27-year-old Serbian international.

Milinkovic-Savic has established himself as a key player for Lazio over the years, and he is certainly one of the best players in Serie A. It is no surprise that the top clubs are looking to secure his services. And he has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.

However, a move to the Premier League did not materialise back then. So it will be interesting to see whether the Gunners can succeed in bringing him to London at the end of the season.

It is no secret that Arsenal need to bring in midfield reinforcements. And the Serb could prove to be an exceptional long-term acquisition for them. The 27-year-old is already playing at a high level and is likely to improve further with coaching and experience.

The Gunners need to bring in a quality midfield partner for Thomas Partey, and Milinkovic-Savic certainly fits the profile. The Serb is a top-quality box-to-box midfielder who will help out defensively and chip in with goals in the final third as well. The Londoners do not have someone with his skill set, and he could complete Arsenal’s midfield next season.

Swiss international Granit Xhaka has rediscovered himself in an advanced role this season. But Arsenal need someone who can help out defensively alongside Partey and drive the team forward during transitions. The Lazio midfielder would be the perfect fit for them. And it remains to be seen whether the London club can convince Lazio to sell their prized prospect at the end of the season.

The report claims that Lokonga is valued at around €25 million. And Arsenal would have to offer a cash sum of around €50-60 million along with the 23-year-old Belgian midfielder in order to convince Lazio. It will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants are ready to part ways with Milinkovic-Savic anytime soon.
