Liverpool are reportedly best placed to sign Youssoufa Moukoko, a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid, next summer.
According to a report from Spanish publication SPORT, Youssoufa Moukoko has several clubs on his trail. But Premier League giants Liverpool are currently in the box seat for the 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward’s signature.
The youngster will be out of contract at the end of the season, and it is no surprise that the top clubs are hovering around him. Moukoko is widely regarded as one of the best talents in the Bundesliga and he has a massive future ahead of him.
The young attacker has four goals and five assists across all competitions this season, and he has established himself as a key player for the German club.
Liverpool could definitely use a player like him, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure a pre-contract agreement with the 17-year-old in January. Moukoko will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs during the winter transfer window.
Alternatively, Dortmund could look to sell the player permanently in January so that they can recoup some cash for him. Losing him or a free transfer at the end of the season would be a blow for the German outfit. But considering Moukoko’s potential, BVB will surely look to tie him down to a new contract.
The report adds that Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on signing the youngster. And it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool can fend off the competition and secure his services in the coming months. The player is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp. And a move to Anfield could help him improve further and fulfil his tremendous potential.
Klopp has a proven track record of improving young players, and Moukoko could benefit from working under a world-class manager like him. Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Moukoko could be his ideal long-term replacement at the Merseyside club.
Given the fact that he will be available on a free transfer this summer, the move seems like a no-brainer. And Liverpool must do everything in their power to snap him up. The young attacker is likely to get more chances at Liverpool as compared to a club like Real Madrid where he will have to battle it out with the likes of Karim Benzema and Rodrygo Goes for the first-team berth.
The same holds true for Barcelona, although he can potentially be a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can usurp Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race to sign Moukoko.
