Real Madrid considering Moussa Diaby move

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Moussa Diaby, valued at around €70 million by Bayer Leverkusen.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Moussa Diaby is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. Bayer Leverkusen will look to recoup around €70 million from the sale of the French international.

Moussa Diaby spent his formative years in his native Paris before graduating from the Paris Saint-Germain academy. But his stint with Les Parisiens ended three years ago when Bayer Leverkusen snapped him up. And the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most enterprising attackers in the Bundesliga.

The French international has managed a decent tally of 37 goals and 41 assists in 139 outings for Bayer Leverkusen. And Diaby’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

Real Madrid will likely enter the market for a wide attacker in the summer transfer window next year. That is because Marco Asensio looks likely to depart from the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent. The Spaniard has emerged on the radars of several European bigwigs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.

In addition, Eden Hazard has failed to convince Carlo Ancelotti. And the Belgian international might have to count his days as a Real Madrid player, with Los Blancos reportedly considering selling him next summer. Diaby is thus a viable target for Real Madrid. But the French international will not be a cost-effective acquisition.

Bayer Leverkusen will demand around €70 million for the 23-year-old, setting the lower limit at €65 million. The Bundesliga giants are in a healthy negotiating position, with Diaby’s contract running until June 30, 2025. So Real Madrid might have to bite the bullet to secure the services of the young attacker.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is also on Real Madrid’s radar. So Die Werkself might be on Los Blancos watch list for the foreseeable future as Florentino Perez lays down a plan for 2023. It will be interesting to see if Diaby becomes a top target for Real Madrid next summer.
