Manchester United are contemplating terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract following his behaviour in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
According to iNews, Manchester United could release Cristiano Ronaldo from his current contract after the player went down the tunnel before the final whistle was blown in the Red Devils’ most recent outing.
Erik ten Hag did not pick the Portuguese attacker in his starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur. But it was expected Ronaldo would come on the pitch at some time to show his trickery against the north London giants.
But the Red Devils played with massive intensity and pressing throughout the game. And the 37-year-old would have found it difficult to match the tempo with his diminished pace.
Manchester United issued an official statement stating the player will not be available for the Chelsea game on Saturday but the rest of the squad will be getting their parts ready for the encounter. The statement read: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”

As per various reports, Ronaldo also refused to come on as a substitute and had already left the stadium before the match ended. It has not been confirmed whether the troublemaking attacker has been fined as of now. But he has been forced to train on his own at the Carrington training ground. And Manchester United might even release him from his contract if things do not improve.
This whole issue might pose a great distraction to Manchester United, who have been on a decent winning run which has been a catalyst in this challenging time.
Erik ten Hag has already made it clear he won’t tolerate indiscipline in his tenure, and his action is speaking for himself. The Manchester United management is also backing his stance, but Ronaldo’s imminent future is hanging over a thread.
The player is one of the highest-paid players at the club, and offloading him could provide Manchester United more room for new signings. But a player like Ronaldo comes with a lot of baggage, and parting ways with him would not be financially viable as it could hit the commercial side of things.
Jorge Mendes offered his client to a number of clubs but failed to generate enough interest among the interested parties. However, a few clubs, including Galatasaray, are showing eagerness to land the veteran striker.

Should Ronaldo receive a substantial offer in January, Manchester United are unlikely to block his path as it stands. But if that does not happen, the Red Devils will not shy away from terminating his contract if his troublemaking ways do not stop.
