Chelsea keen on Adrien Rabiot

Chelsea have identified Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as a potential candidate for their midfield department next summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Adrien Rabiot is an option for Chelsea, and the French midfielder could be one of the new entrants at Stamford Bridge.

Rabiot was heavily linked with Manchester United this past summer, and his mother, who happens to be his agent, had a detailed discussion with the club regarding the contract and his salary. But following a huge backlash from a section of supporters, Manchester United refrained from making a deal and instead brought in Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Chelsea are looking to add a midfielder or possibly two to their ranks as N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will be out of contract next summer. Denis Zakaria has not featured for the Blues yet following his loan deal, and it is highly possible he returns to his parent club Juventus in January.

Rabiot’s quality has certainly deteriorated, but Graham Potter will be keen to add some necessary experience to the squad. They won’t have to spend a penny on his transfer, but lucrative wages and signing bonus could be vital in securing a deal for the player.

Paris Saint-Germain are also having a strict watch on the player’s movements. Rabiot has spent most of his career at the French club, and a return to his native country could be one of the options.

The 27-year-old French midfielder has grown into a complete midfielder and would be suitable to the nature of the Premier League. Chelsea could also offer Juventus a cut-price deal in a bid to lure the player to London in January. The Serie A giants are aware of the current contractual situation and might agree to part ways with the midfielder for a meagre fee.

Chelsea were also one of the suitors this past summer but did not pursue a deal actively.  But this time, they are thought to be serious about a deal and could contact his entourage to sound up the possibility. A pre-contract could be agreed upon in January to fast-forward the transfer, and the 27-year-old will be ready for a new exciting adventure.
