PSG battle Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready battle Chelsea to sign 24-year-old French international Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing 24-year-old French international Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

Nkunku has been outstanding for RB Leipzig over the past year, and it is no surprise that the top teams are looking to secure his services. The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season, and he could be an exceptional acquisition for Chelsea and PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain might need to bring in more than one attacking reinforcement during the summer transfer window, especially if Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi end up leaving the club. The former is the likelier candidate for a departure amid reports that he is unsettled at Parc des Princes.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements as well. And Nkunku would be a superb addition to the Chelsea squad, with Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang only a short-term solution.

Nkunku can operate as the second striker as well as a winger. And his versatility will be an asset for any club he decides to join. The former PSG youth player might be tempted to return to his boyhood club, and the French outfit certainly have the resources to sign him as well.

There were reports earlier that Chelsea have secured a pre-contract agreement with the player. And it remains to be seen whether they can fend off competition from PSG and sign the 24-year-old at the end of the season.

Nkunku has the tools to develop into a world-class player, and a move to PSG or Chelsea could be the ideal next step in his career.

RB Leipzig have an impressive squad, but they are not capable of challenging for major European trophies. Chelsea and PSG could provide Nkunku with a platform to win trophies like the Champions League and he is likely to be tempted to move on.

The German club are unlikely to sell the 24-year-old French international for a bargain. And so, his suitors will have to cough up a substantial fee for his services.
