Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly drawing interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

As per media outlet Fichajes, Manchester United and Arsenal could go head to head for the signature of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The 23-year-old has been in much demand, and both the Premier League clubs have been on his heels for several days.

Manchester United particularly have felt the need for a proper number nine this season. Despite their improvements on the pitch, goals have been scarce to come. And Erik ten Hag has made it a priority to rope in a top-notch striker as the Red Devils continue their rebuild in this transition phase.

The former Ajax manager has tried both Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo through the middle, but there have hardly been any encouraging moments. Rashford loves to operate from his favoured left-hand side, while Ronaldo’s diminishing pace has made him more vulnerable to the opposition defenders.

A young and energetic striker to lead the current attacking contingent could help Manchester United in recovering their lost ground. But Serie A giants Napoli will likely command a fee in excess of €100 million it seems.

Arsenal have been on a dream run, and their long trophy drought could finally come to an end as the Gunners currently top the Premier League table. It would be too soon to declare them as the favourites.

But there have been positive signs from the North London giants which could be granted as a success for Mikel Arteta. The Arsenal boss has been tipped to have a more hands-on approach, and the arrival of a striker like Osimhen could bridge the gap with Liverpool and Manchester City. That said, the presence of Gabriel Jesus begs the question as to why Arsenal want to sign Osimhen.

Arsenal and Manchester United have enjoyed utter domination in the Premier League in the past. But the Gunners have managed to grab the attention this time with their crisp and attacking football.

Praise has been pouring in, but Arteta knows he will need fresh faces to compete with the behemoths in near future. Securing funds has not been a problem, and should Osimhen arrive at the Emirates, the 23-year-old could emulate the feat of a certain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
