Newcastle United are eyeing attacking reinforcements in January and they are reportedly lining up a move for Joaquin Correa from Inter Milan.

According to Calciomercato, Joaquin Correa is a target for Newcastle United in January as Eddie Howe remains keen to bolster the attack. The Argentine attacker is unhappy with his situation at Inter, with the Italian club reportedly open to entertaining offers.

Newcastle United have expectedly made a solid start to their season, sitting in 6th after 10 games in the Premier League. Much of the improvement is due to their impressive work in the transfer window since January, which has seen many quality players arrive.

Those stars improved Newcastle’s position on the table last season and got them comfortably out of a possible relegation battle. In the summer, Newcastle continued their smart recruitment, bringing notable stars like Sven Botman and Alexander Isak to cap off a strong window.

Eddie Howe has been able to coach this group of players to get the best results, and the Magpies are expected to be active in January. The manager will likely want an attacking player in the window, with Inter Milan’s Juaquin Correa marked as a possible target.

Inter spent around €23 million in the summer of 2021 to sign Correa. While the Argentine hit the ground running, he has suffered a loss of form this term. He has only started one game under Simone Inzaghi this campaign and struggles to become relevant again.

While the Serie A side knew of Newcastle’s interest in the summer, Inter were reluctant to sell, considering their investment in the Argentine. However, if a sizeable offer arrives in January, the Italian side could look at recouping a significant sum in return.

Whether Correa remains interested in leaving Italy, where he is comfortable, remains to be seen. However, the project over at Newcastle has hit exciting territory and may be a catalyst in attracting some of the biggest names.
