Newcastle United are reportedly pondering a €18 million move for Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

According to a report from Calciomercatoweb, Newcastle United have been following Wojciech Szczesny for some time. And the Magpies could make a move for the 32-year-old Juventus goalkeeper at the end of the season.

The experienced goalkeeper has a contract with the Serie A club until the summer of 2024, and the Bianconeri could look to cash in on him at the end of the season. Juventus have had a disappointing campaign so far, and that has cast doubts over the future of a number of first-team players.

The report claims that the Serie A giants value Szczesny at €26 million. But Newcastle could look to offer a sum of around €18 million for the former Arsenal goalkeeper. Furthermore, the Tynside giants could offer the player wages of around €8 million per season. The goalkeeper was linked with a return to the Premier League last year as well.

Newcastle parted ways with Martin Dubravka in the summer and have signed Nick Pope as their number-one shot-stopper. However, they could use more quality and depth in that area, and Szczesny would prove to be a quality acquisition.

The Polish international goalkeeper has played in the Premier League before with Arsenal. And Szczesny should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact Furthermore, the reported €18 million fee for a player of his experience and quality could prove to be a wise investment from Newcastle.

Szczesny has won multiple trophies with Juventus, and Newcastle could certainly use his experience and winning mentality as they look to build a side capable of challenging for the major trophies. The 32-year-old has played in five league games for Juventus so far this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Despite being 32, Szczesny has a lot to offer at the highest level, and Newcastle would do well to secure his services at the end of the season. The Magpies have no shortage of resources after their takeover, and bringing in players like Szczesny would help them build a formidable squad. Meanwhile, other goalkeepers, like Ugurcan Cakir, are also on their radar.
