Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of 25-year-old Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

According to a report by Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Lautaro Martinez. And the Red Devils have submitted an enquiry for the Argentine international’s availability.

Signing a striker has been a priority for Erik ten Hag. And bringing in someone like Lautaro Martinez will only be an upgrade over Manchester United’s current attacking options.

Except for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Premier League giants currently do not have an out-and-out striker with the goal-poaching instinct. And Manchester United will be digging deep in 2023 to continue their search.

Having overseen a solid start to their Premier League season, ten Hag is open to letting more players join his squad. And the Manchester United boss only wants the perfect player to be associated with his principles.

The 25-year-old joined Inter back in 2018, and it did not take a long time for him to stamp his authority in Serie A. But many believe Martinez has not had many difficulties in the relatively easy Italian top flight, and his actual test will come if he arrives on English soil. But it is expected the Argentine international will overcome all the criticism to acclimatise perfectly.

It is still not clear whether Cristiano Ronaldo will continue at Old Trafford beyond January. And should he decide to leave, Manchester United will certainly look to rope in a replacement.

Paris Saint-Germain are also on the heels of the player and have sounded out his entourage to check the possibility of a potential transfer. Kylian Mbappe’s imminent future is up in the air, and the Ligue 1 giants wants to be ready with their replacement.

Manchester United had a bitter experience with the Frenkie de Jong transfer saga. And they will be taking extra precautions if a deal is to be done. They do not want to be entangled in a single transfer, and multiple angles could easily be explored.

A premium amount will be necessary to snatch the 25-year-old from San Siro. But having already overshot their budget in the summer, it remains to be seen if the Manchester United board approves of another expensive buy.
