Arsenal defender William Saliba has reportedly been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to reputed journalist Ben Jacobs, French giants Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attention towards the 21-year-old Arsenal defender William Saliba.

Saliba was on loan at Marseille last season and won the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award for his performances with the French outfit. Since then, he has returned to his parent club Arsenal and established himself as a key starter for Mikel Arteta.

The 21-year-old has been exceptional for the Gunners this season, helping them to the top of the Premier League table. It is hardly surprising that top clubs like PSG are keen on securing his services. Interestingly, Les Parisiens also showed interest in Saliba in the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman is still only 21 and has a big future ahead of him. And the Arsenal defender is likely to improve further with game time and experience. Saliba has all the tools to develop into a world-class defender in the future.

PSG certainly need to revamp the defensive department and plan for a future without Sergio Ramos. Saliba could be an excellent partner for Marquinhos at the heart of PSG’s defence. The chance to return to his homeland could be a tempting proposition for the youngster. And Arsenal might be worried about this situation.

However, the Gunners have improved immensely this season and are very much in the Premier League title race. If they can keep performing at this level, Saliba will fancy his chances of winning a trophy with Arsenal. Furthermore, a return to the Champions League could further convince the young defender that Arsenal can help him fulfil his ambitions.

It will be interesting to see whether the French outfit decide to come forward with a concrete offer for the Arsenal defender in the coming months. PSG have no shortage of resources, but it will be interesting to see whether they can tempt the London club into selling the young defender.

It seems unlikely that Arsenal will sanction any departure in the middle of the season. Therefore, Saliba’s suitors will have to wait until the summer transfer window at the very least.
