Premier League giants Liverpool will prefer to sign 19-year-old English international Jude Bellingham over Kylian Mbappe.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs on the Done Deal Show, Liverpool are currently prioritising the signing of Jude Bellingham over French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is thought to be unhappy with his situation at Paris Saint-Germain, and he is looking to leave the club during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League before he decided to sign a contract extension with PSG. He was also linked with a move to Real Madrid, and there were rumours that the player had a verbal agreement with Florentino Perez regarding a transfer.
However, the player went on to sign a new contract with the French outfit. But things are not going according to plan for him. It seems Mbappe has fallen out with teammate Neymar, and his prima-donna attitude has been criticised widely. It will be interesting to see where the player ends up eventually.
Liverpool could certainly use a player of Mbappe’s calibre. But it is no surprise that the Reds are prioritising a move for Jude Bellingham instead. The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder could sort out their midfield problems and is likely to cost far less as well.
Liverpool desperately need midfield reinforcements because of persistent injury problems and the regression of players like Jordan Henderson and James Milner. Signing a quality central midfielder could make or break Liverpool’s season in January, and Bellingham is someone who could transform them immediately.
It will be interesting to see if Dortmund are willing to sell the player during the January transfer window or if Liverpool are made to wait until the summer. The player has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea as well.
The English international is likely to command lesser wages compared to Mbappe as well. And given the limited financial resources, Liverpool are more likely to be able to afford Bellingham rather than Mbappe. Also, Bellingham is more of a team player compared to Mbappe, and Klopp tends to prefer players like that.
