Newcastle United are reportedly plotting a move for Kilmarnock’s teenage attacking sensation Bobby Wales.

Kilmarnock’s 17-year-old striker prodigy, Bobby Wales, has ended up in the sights of Newcastle United. That is according to the Daily Record, which claims the Magpies are plotting another raid on Kilmarnock after already snatching defender Charlie McArthur from Rugby Park in the summer.

Newcastle United’s impressive recruitment for their first team has grabbed the headlines in the mainstream media in recent weeks. But Dan Ashworth has also placed a strong focus on signing young players for the future.

The Tyneside giants are looking to climb up the ladder and turn into title contenders in the near future following their takeover. Newcastle want to scout the best talents from across the world, having recently been linked with a double swoop for Vasco da Gama talents Andrey Santos and Eguinaldo.

The Magpies’ hierarchy has put a renewed emphasis on bolstering their youth ranks by bringing in players from throughout the UK and Ireland to work their way around the latest Brexit ruling and circumvent work permit regulations.

The summer months saw the likes of defender Charlie McArthur from Kilmarnock , left-back Alex Murphy from Galway United, Jordan Hackett from Tottenham Hotspur and goalkeeper Jude Smith from East Fife all moving to Tyneside.

It now seems that Newcastle United are not done there just yet. They are reportedly among the clubs expressing an interest in highly-coveted Rangers wonderkid Leon King, having recently sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old defender. Now, they want to sign Kilmarnock prospect Bobby Wales in the near future.

Despite not yet making his senior debut, Wales seems to be making an impression in matches for Kilmarnock’s B team and is said to be on the cusp of breaking into the Killie first-team after excelling for the club’s Under-18s as well as Scotland Under-18s.

As per the report, Newcastle’s scouts have been keeping tabs on Wales for some time now and were in attendance this week as he notched two assists in a B team clash for Killie. The teenage prodigy is under contract at Rugby Park until 2024, but they are bracing themselves for offers for one of their prized assets.

Newcastle have already done transfer business with Kilmarnock this year by signing McArthur, and they could use their good relations to get a deal over the line for Wales ahead of any other potential suitors, including Championship high-flyers Sheffield United. If the Magpies are able to capture Wales, the 17-year-old would most likely join Elliot Dickman’s Under-21 side.
