Argentine forward Lionel Messi has been linked with a return to Barcelona at the end of the season, but he is bothered by the rumours.

According to a report from Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants to bring Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou in a Bosman move in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Messi has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, and he will be a free agent in July 2023. It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona can agree on a deal with the player over the next few months.

The 35-year-old joined PSG last year after Barcelona failed to tie him down to a new contract because of their financial limitations. However, things have improved on the economical front since then, and Laporta wants to bring Messi back to the club at the end of the season.

However, it seems that the player is very bothered about the situation and is not focused on his club future right now. Messi is looking forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup later this year and will only decide his future after the mega event in Qatar.

This could well be the Argentine international’s final opportunity to win the World Cup, and he is fully focused on the task at hand. Argentina recently won the Copa America under Messi’s leadership, and they have been in scintillating form since then. The South American giants will certainly be one of the favourites to lift the World Cup this winter.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have done well to improve their squad since the arrival of Xavi Hernandez and they have done reasonably well in La Liga so far this season. They will be hoping to end the season strongly by winning the league title.

If Laporta manages to bring Messi back to the club at the end of the season, it could come as a huge boost for the team as well as the fan base.

Messi’s love and admiration for the club is no secret and the Argentine might be tempted to return in the near future. However, Barcelona will have to wait until after the World Cup to find out whether they have any chance of bringing their club legend back at the end of this season.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are happy for the player to continue in France, and they could look to offer him a new deal if he is willing to accept one. For now, rumours of talks between Messi and Barcelona seem false.
