Manchester United’s pursuit of Hirving Lozano could face some serious threat as Liverpool’s move for Jeremy Doku could spoil their plans.
According to Daily Express, Manchester United have set their sights on Napoli winger Hirving Lozano and could express their interest in signing the player. Lozano has made a name for himself, and the Red Devils are keen to make the 27-year-old their next star arrival.
Even though the Mexican winger has not hit the desired level, Napoli seem to be happy with his contribution and do not want to part ways with him as it stands. But should a deal be struck with any club, the Serie A giants are ready with their contingency plan as they have targeted Rennes forward Jeremy Doku as his replacement.
Liverpool are keeping tabs on Doku, and if they make their move, it could be bad news for Manchester United. If Napoli somehow fail to make a winning bid, a move for Lozano will unlikely go through.
There is no dearth of wingers currently at Manchester United. But Erik ten Hag wants some more players to be available at his disposal as he does not want to have any kind of hindrance in his job.
Manchester United brought in Antony by splashing a mammoth £84 million, and the Brazilian has been an instant hit with his signature style. The Red Devils had shown interest in several attackers in the summer. But ten Hag already reiterated his desire to sign the perfect player and could be ready to wait a bit longer for him.
Manchester United will hope Napoli get to Doku before Liverpool lay hands on him. The energetic youngster is regarded as Belgium’s next superstar and could resolve all the problems for the Italian club.
Lozano would likely command a reasonable fee, and his ability to play on both flanks has made him a more lucrative prospect. It remains to be seen whether the Manchester United hierarchy decides to go in January or is ready to pounce on him next summer, when the 27-year-old enters the final year of his contract with the Serie A giants.
